VM Sizing

I thought that I would make it easy for everyone and have a page showing the VM sizing I use for each System Center product.

As I write the various guides for each specific product, I will update this page to include the specs I use for the VMs. That way I can keep the generic guides (i.e. System Center 2012 SP1 in a LAB – Installation Part A to Part D), well, generic.

Active Directory:

  • Virtual Machine Name: AD
  • CPUs: 2 (virtual processors)
  • Memory: 2048 MB
  • HDD: 40 GB
  • OS: Windows Server 2012

System Center Operations Manager:

  • Virtual Machine Name: SCOM
  • CPUs: 4 (virtual processors)
  • Memory: 8192 MB
  • HDD: 60 GB
  • OS: Windows Server 2012

System Center Virtual Machine Manager:

  • Virtual Machine Name: SCVMM
  • CPUs: 4 (virtual processors)
  • Memory: 4096 MB
  • HDD (Main): 40 GB
  • HDD (Library Drive): 150 GB
  • OS: Windows Server 2012

System Center Orchestrator:

  • Virtual Machine Name: SCORCH
  • CPUs: 4 (virtual processors)
  • Memory: 2048 MB
  • HDD: 40 GB
  • OS: Windows Server 2012

System Center Service Manager:

SCSM Management Server:

  • Virtual Machine Name: SCSM-MS
  • CPUs: 4 (virtual processors)
  • Memory: 8192 MB
  • HDD: 80 GB
  • OS: Windows Server 2012

 SCSM Warehouse Server:

  • Virtual Machine Name: SCSM-WS
  • CPUs: 4 (virtual processors)
  • Memory: 8192 MB
  • HDD: 80 GB
  • OS: Windows Server 2012

System Center App Controller:

  • Virtual Machine Name: SCAC
  • CPUs: 2 (virtual processors)
  • Memory: 4096 MB
  • HDD: 40 GB
  • OS: Windows Server 2012
